Burna Boy – Love, Damini

Breaking boundaries and making music more enjoyable has been the work put together by most African modern artists, and amongst the few who have gotten the attention of audiences across the world is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu who is best known as Burna Boy. Burna Boy remains a strong part of African music and the growth of Afrobeat to the world’s main stage.

The singer who is usually referred to as “proud and arrogant” still comes out unapologetic each time he makes a statement that sits well with him and that alone has set him apart from a lot of his colleagues who care more about what people would say or think about them unlike Burna Boy. With so much confidence and pride in his roots, the singer is known for the self-acclaimed name “African Giant” which he gifted himself and even released an album with the same titled which went on to get a Grammy nomination.

Burna Boy didn’t stop there despite losing the award to multiple Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo in what he described as a depressing experience. He took his time to create more music and later released his fifth studio album “Twice as Tall” which made the impossible possible. The album got nominated and eventually won the award for the best world music album at the 2021 Grammy award ceremony, a feat that has made him a force to reckon with in the African music space.

As you may know, Burna Boy has been very active since he dropped his controversial hit song “Ye” which earned him the attention of fans globally and since then, it has been records on records for the singer and his team.

Burna Boy announced that he would be releasing his sixth studio album and since the announcement, fans have been following every progress of the project. The album he titled “Love, Damini” is a pack of songs that describes his artistry prowess and uniqueness. Few days ago, Burna Boy announced the release date for his album and shared the art cover and tracklist to the public notifying them of the artists that he has collaborated with on the new body of work. One the of surprising thing is that the new Burna Boy project wasn’t released under his label Atlantic Records, instead he shares it with the official copyright of his long-term label Spaceship Entertainment Ltd. Well, if there’s anything going on, it will be a topic for another day but the mean time, the conversation is the joy of the new body of work.

  ALBUM: Lil Baby – Street Gossip

The 19 track album is available now and it features impressive names like Ed Sheeran, J Hus, Ladysmith, Victony, Popcaan, Kehlani, J Balvin, Blxst, Black Mambazo and Khalid. It Also includes two of his last releases “Kilometre” and of course, “Last Last” which has been the song of the moment.

According to Burna Boy, the album is a highlight of his personal struggles. In a post, he stated that;

“Love, Damini is a personal body of work. It’s about the ups and downs, the growth, the L’s and W’s. I’m excited to share this journey and roll [it] out with you all,”

The album comes shortly after he had celebrated his 31st birthday a week ago. And he also revealed that the album and teasers will all be coming during the midnights because he was born right after midnight. Lol Burna Boy is crazy and you can’t take out the fact that he is also creative so it’s OK to say he is crazily creative.
